The Telescopes were founded in 1987 by Stephen Lawrie and have been “mining a unique anti-myopian seam of highly influential experimental, drone, noise, dream & psych for over 20 years”.

Their latest album, “Hidden Fields”, was recorded and produced here at Riverside and we're delighted to see that it has been receiving some positive attention in the music press.

“Former shoegazing noiseniks continue to get better with age”

“Lawrie's quest is one of endless exploration, following his ears to where the most intriguing music happens”

The Skinny

“The Telescopes have constantly forged routes between the tropes of melodic shoegaze and abrasive, full-on dissonance”

Hidden Fields will be released on tapete records on the 7th of August 2015

The Telescopes - You Know The Way

Yet another amazing academic year has ended at Riverside and we are already excited about the new semester!

Not only will we be joined by our new and continuing Sound Production and Music Performance students, we will also be welcoming the first batch of our HNC Music Business students to Riverside!

Our new innovative Music Business course will give our students an opportunity to manage our new independent record label ‘little tiger’ taking responsibility for budget, A&R, promotion and all other challenges a label may face on a day to day basis.

Our students will gain the knowledge and fundamental business skills required to forge a successful career and will benefit from seminars delivered by leading figures from within the music industry.

If you are interested in joining us for the new semester in August, there is still time to apply!

Now that our students have left Riverside for the summer the builders will be moving in as work begins on the next exciting phase of our redevelopment.

The work, starting on Monday the 15th June, will implement our progressive plan to completely redesign our existing single story annex building which houses Studio 2 and our pre production/rehearsal suites.

Opening in time for the new term in August, the redesign will include a new multi control room production facility complimenting Studio 2, this will allow for an increased, integrated ‘hands on learning experience for our students. We will also be introducing a modern and interactive seminar suite which will replace our existing classroom whilst our pre production suites will also undergo an upgrade.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page and Twitter for more updates as the work progresses.

We can’t wait to get started.

*Info for Private Tuition clients during summer building works.

We will be closed to Private tuition clients from Friday the 17th of July until Saturday the 1st of August when we fully reopen as normal.

If you require any further information please get in touch or ask us on your next visit.

Congratulations to all our graduating and continuing students for all your hard work over the last year!
